Shine Like the Dawn A Novel Carrie Turansky 9781601429407 Books Reviews

I like it very much.
Another great book from a very talented author.
I enjoyed this novel, with it's touch of mystery! The interactions of the characters working through past tragedy that influenced currant difficulties kept me interested. Well done Carrie Turansky! I recommend this clean read for young and old alike. This will be a re-read for me!
Carrie Turansky is one of my favorite authors, but Shine Like the Dawn was just okay to me. I had a hard time liking Maggie. She complained a lot. I liked Nate, Grandmother and Violet much more. I would recommend Ms. Turansky's Highland Hall series as I enjoyed that much more.
There is a sentence at the end of the book that describes the hopefulness contained in this book "They had come through a long time of darkness and separation when mistrust and unresolved hurt had ruled their lives, but God had not left them there." Carrie's characters, Maggie and Nate, start out with a rocky past and painful memories, but thankfully she brings the story full circle because of God's grace in not leaving them there. There is a sweet romance, a troubling mystery and some likable and not so likable secondary characters. Thanks, Carrie, for keeping it real.
Enter 1903 England into the lives of Margaret Lounsbury and her family and their history with the Harcourt family. Assumptions, lies, mistrust, and four years of secrets weave threads of discontent between the families. Can hope, forgiveness, and truth breathe new life into dark circumstances? I've enjoyed other books by Carrie Turansky including The Edwardian Brides Series.
This was the best book written by Carrie Turansky. It had all of the elements complex characters, beautiful setting, accurate cultural situations, and a problem that was more complex than ever before. I was savoring the writing (I really enjoy her style) but had to keep reading to find out who the protagonist really was! Beautiful story of love lost and found as well as a strong Christian message. Excellent! Thank you!
