“A Bad Boy Can be good for a Girl” book debate

I just spent about 50 minutes to read all 221 pages. It’s written like a 10 year olds diary. Terrible style that could be 60 pages stretched to 221. I now agree it doesn’t belong is School because it’s a terrible excuse for a book. My son’s Ninjago books have more insiteful thought and less stereotypical characters.

If anybody thinks this book is pornographic they haven’t read it. Some extremely basic descriptions of groping, hints at foreplay and “poking around” (seriously how the author describes it) is all.

The author clearly finds males base, stupid and self centered. The high school scumbag jock toady is all you get. One of the three women actually sets up and initiates the copulation but is still the victim. Even after he asks is she is sure she wants it and if she is ready.

They don’t even really deal with the issue or show a positive ways of dealing with sex. Just barely mention the book they talk trash about him in.

The seller did an amazing packaging/shipping job though! I’ll buy from them again.

Great book! Must read for every girl.
This is by far the best book I've ever read. It teaches girl the reality of the way a god sum of men use women for sex, and sex as a game. I consider this book, along with The Earth My Butt And Other Big Round Things and Forever, a must read for all high-school girls.
Great book, quick read, great cautionary tail.
This book was banned from the highschool in our town, so curious why I read it. I thought it was good and very informative. I'm 48 years old this is nothing new, this stuff has been going on for years and I think girls should be aware.
Written in verse, three girls encounter the same bad boy. Using a library copy of Judy Blume's Forever, all the girls that have been used by this boy leave messages to each other, sharing their experiences.

When I saw all these reviews saying this should be required reading I wasn't so sure about that... After reading this, I think it should be required reading for girls, boys, grownups, parents, everyone! What a powerful piece in such a slim package. I think it's one great life lesson. I hadn't heard of this book until it was mentioned as a giveaway on a blog and I looked into it. It's a shame it isn't more widely recognized.

Though the book teaches a powerful lesson it's still very fun to read. I really enjoyed it. I had never read anything I liked in verse, probably because it was all school related. But this book is very easily digestible. Makes me want to seek out other books in the same format.
Josie, Nicolette, and Aviva are attracted to a boy who goes by his initials, T.L. He's a handsome, smooth talking jock and senior. One by one he manipulates the young ladies into doing what he wants, even when they're filled with doubt and suspicious of the way he talks about them to his friends. But they don't take things sitting down after he uses them.

There are some scenes that might be considered graphic, but the sexuality leads to important lessons for the three girls. The shifting points of view had smooth transitions. This is a well-written verse novel. Unfortunately, looking at the author's book list on Goodreads and on her website, this appears to be her only published novel (but she has authored picture books and non-fiction).
A Bad Boy can be Good for a Girl because you learn exactly what they will say to get in your pants, what they will do to brag to their friends that they scored. Are they ever the ones being left in the dust with a broken heart? Perhaps once? A girl ruined them for everyone else by breaking their hearts? Yes, some but not all, some do it for the mere fun of the game. They prey on the females, twist them in a confusion of words, wrapping them in pretty words `oh you're so beautiful', `I have never met anyone like you before', `your special you know that'. I don't know about you but I have heard quite a few of these lines being sprouted out by those type of users who say everything you want to hear until they have you wrapped around their fingers. That is until your no fun anymore because they have either won the game or given up because you won't be persuaded out of your clothes and they drop you like your nothing but litter.

The main lesson learned is that every girl should watch out for the guys who are deceptive and seeking only to find a girl to score with. And that not all guys behave in such a fashion but you have to be wary of the ones who constantly spin bull to weave you within their web of destruction.
